Hotels occasionally can't provide a promised room for several reasons: typically, either an unforeseen overbooking or having current guests stay longer than originally planned. In most cases the hotel/supplier will inform us (prior to travel) that they are unable to confirm the booking. In this case they will offer a similar hotel to the one you have booked usually in same area and category. If this is not possible then an alternative of a similar/higher standard is offered. The hotel /supplier must fulfill their obligations by arranging alternative accommodation for you and pay (or refund the expenses upon your return - it is imperative to keep proof of payment of taxi to qualify for a refund) for you to get there.
If you arrive at your hotel and they inform you on the spot that the room you booked is not available, normal procedure is that if the hotel has availability in another room type of different specifications or higher standard they will offer you an upgrade at no extra cost. If the hotel has no rooms at all available then alternative accommodation of same or higher standard will be offered usually in the same area.
Your options are:
Accept the offered alternative,
or contact us for alternative accommodation, of a similar standard to that originally booked if available (if the chosen alternative is less expensive than your original one, we will refund the difference but if it is more expensive, you, the customer will pay the difference); or
Cancellation of that booking only and refund of moneys paid against that booking only.
Yes, you must include all guests. Any individual staying at the hotel is considered a guest, regardless of their age.
The hotelmust be aware of all guests staying at the establisment at any given time, as some rooms do not have enough space for additonal beds and/or cots.
Some hotels offer airport transportation for their guests. To find out if your hotel offers this service, check the "hotel information" that appears on our website.
Once you have your booking confirmation, you will need to contact the hotel directly before your arrival. Please note that a surcharge for shuttle service may apply.
Things to Do
Straddling the Nile River and boasting a population of over seventeen million, Cairo is the largest metropolitan center in both Africa and the Middle East. As capital of one of the greatest civilizations in history, Cairo showcases the highlights of Egyptian culture dating back over 4,500 years. The only one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World still mostly intact is the Great Pyramid of Giza, whose popularity equals that of its neighbor, the Sphinx. The pharaohs' eternal resting place is within Cairo itself, and sees millions of visitors a year. Take a day to visit the Egyptian Museum and its countless artifacts dating back thousands of years. Cairo is known as the city of a thousand minarets, and religious centers such as the Al-Hakim Mosque give tourists valuable insight into Islamic history and culture. For those wishing to experience Cairo in a more recent setting, spend some time in Cairo’s Midan Tahrir district nestled directly in Cairo’s modern city center. Hotels here offer travelers easy access to the entire city.
